The venue offers an authentic Korean dining experience with a focus on masterfully crafted jjajangmyeon, complemented by a host of flavorful dishes that showcase traditional Korean fare with a modern touch.

The centerpiece of their menu is undoubtedly the Obba Haesin Jjajangmyeon, a dish that impresses with its perfectly balanced sauce—rich but not overwhelming—coating soft, handmade noodles that boast a subtle wheat flavor and an ideal chewiness. Diners can also indulge in the fiery and briny jjamppong, a seafood noodle soup brimming with fresh squid, prawns, mussels, and vibrant vegetables simmered in a spicy broth that invigorates the palate.

For those who appreciate the art of Korean fried dishes, the Chicken Tangsuyuk is a must-try. Double-fried for crispiness, each bite delivers a satisfying crunch that pairs exquisitely with the house’s sweet and tangy sauce, offered both as a topping or dip to maintain the chicken’s texture. The garlic chicken and other fried favourites also add layers of familiar comfort enhanced by authentic Korean flavors.

O.BBa Jjajang stands out not only for its cuisine but for the all-you-can-enjoy banchan bar, a thoughtful highlight that lets guests help themselves to fresh, rotating side dishes such as spicy cucumber kimchi, japchae, and braised tofu. I've been wanting to eat here for quite some time, and happened to come across the restaurant during lunch hour after running an errand. Food is awesome – they have a counter full of banchan that you can take as much as you like. I liked the spicy cucumber most. I ordered the set meal with beef jjajangmyeon. Yummy! And it comes with a mini tangsuyuk. I appreciate that they served the sauce separately, so you can either pour it over the chicken or dip it in the sauce to keep it crunchy. Service and atmosphere – staff are friendly and attentive, restaurant was clean, banchan counter was kept fresh, and a good selection of k-pop music played over the speakers. Would definitely come again!

Wide variety of free unlimited banchan. Their jjajangmyeon is the best out of all authentic korean restaurants I’ve tried before. Portion of jjampong is massiveee. Loaded with seafood. Garlic chicken was okay, something you can get at other places. Definitely recommended.

What a wonderful and rare find! This Korean noodle restaurant features fantastic handmade noodles that are soft, chewy, and have a delightful hint of wheat flavor. We tried their excellent set menu, which includes two types of noodles—Jjajangmyeon and a seafood soup noodle—along with a generous portion of fried chicken served with dipping sauce. The seafood noodle soup was packed with ingredients like squid, mussels, prawns, and vegetables. The broth itself was spicy and full of flavor. A fantastic bonus: if you follow their social media, you get access to a self-serve bar with free small bites like kimchi, japchae, braised tofu, and more. The restaurant is run by a friendly Korean couple, and the staff is both efficient and welcoming. We can't wait to go back!

Free side dishes, fruits and rice from the buffet table if you follow them on social media. Food: Love their kimchi jiggae (stew) and japchae pajeon (vege pancake). Also, their side dishes are refilled and rotated frequently. Be patient and wait a little if your fave side dishes are not served. They just might be served the next round. Staff: The staff members are always serving with a smile. Efficient and attentive throughout the whole meal. Though the place is huge, all tables are attended. Ambience: Restaurant is spacious and the tables provide enough privacy for guests to have their meals intimately. Tables are the appropriate size which could accommodate food and drinks of 4 dining guests.

My first time here, and the food were AMAZING. The Jjajangmyeon were good, does not have that overpowering taste, really good flavor. Jjamppong were huge and delicious. Tangsuyuk were great too. Service here was excellent! Not to mention if you follow their IG, you'll get unlimited free side dishes!

On Sunday lunch time, my family went to Starling Mall cos we wanted to shop for some groceries in Jaya Grocer there. I was gifted some Jaya Grocer coupons n these will expire by the end of this year . After shopping at Jaya Grocer, we walked around to search for a suitable place for lunch. We have heard about this newly opened Korean restaurant in this mall. So we went searching for it. It is a brightly lit up n spacious eatery. It’s the first outlet in Malaysia from Singapore. It seems they have several outlets in Singapore. It serves Korean food n is pork free so it is Muslim friendly. All the ingredients used mostly come direct from Korea. That is their uniqueness. We were shown a table . On the table is a small display board for us to key in our order by referring to the menu. My niece who loves Korean food n is more knowledgeable did the ordering. The place was almost packed - I guess the food must be good. She ordered a soupy noodle n a dry noodle, a plate of fried chicken n a seafood pancake. As for drinks, I ordered a pot of hot green tea cos I like the taste of green tea. Then we were told to help ourselves to the food n fruits placed on a long table. This is complimentary n all the diners can take the food from there free of charge. We went there n saw several Korean side dishes such as Kim Chee , fried ikan bilis with chillies, a plate of macaroni cheese, some Korean soup , some stir fry Korean noodles n watermelon n thin slices of oranges. While waiting for our order, we each took a sampling of the food from this table. There was also some preserved cucumber n radish as well. The Kim Chee was not that good. The ikan bilis was not crispy at all. Only the macaroni cheese was ok. The preserved cucumber n radish were appetizing. Then our order came. The soupy n dry noodles were ok. We managed to finish all of these. I love the seafood pancake the most . The outer crust was so crispy n yet the filling inside was still so juicy. The plate of fried chicken with some thin slices of fried lotus root - we ate just a little cos we were already so full. In fact my nice as usual has over ordered for the 3 of us. Even the seafood pancake, tasty, we couldn’t finish it all. So we had to takeaway the fried chicken n half of the seafood pancake. The bill came to about RM 150. Quite a good n satisfying lunch. Will go again to eat the seafood pancake which costs about RM 36.

Visited OBBA Jjajang at The Starling Mall recently and left extremely satisfied (and quite full!). If you’re looking for proper Korean-Chinese comfort food in PJ, this spot hits the mark in every way. Going in, I ordered their signature jjajangmyeon and it totally delivered—the noodles were perfectly springy, and the black bean sauce had a rich, savoury depth with a subtle smoky note and just enough sweetness to keep you digging in bite after bite. To balance it, they serve pickled yellow radish and raw onions (which I found to be the perfect counterpart to the richness). We also tried the jjamppong, and wow—the broth brought a warm seafood savouriness and a gentle heat that made you feel it, but didn’t overpower the dish. The mix of prawns, mussels and squid (as they advertised) gave it a lovely texture contrast. And the tangsuyuk? Absolutely a highlight. The batter was light and crispy, the meat tender, and even after dipping into the sweet-sour sauce it stayed satisfyingly crunchy. We had two mains plus the side dish and lunch easily fed two people. Service was friendly and efficient. Despite it being somewhat busy (mall dinner time), the staff were attentive, the table was cleared quickly, and our food arrived in steady fashion—no long gaps, which is always a plus. The interior feels clean, modern but casual—not stiff or overly expensive-feeling. Great for a relaxed lunch or a casual dinner with friends or family. Pricing is appropriate for mall dining in the area, especially given the portion sizes and flavour quality. A few pro tips: • The place tends to get busy around peak dinner hours, so going a little earlier (or just after peak) helps. • If you prefer more sauce on your jjajangmyeon (because you love every noodle coated), don’t hesitate to ask—they were willing. • Don’t skip the pickled radish—they’re simple but elevate each mouthful. • For spice-lovers, ask about how spicy the jjamppong is—they tone it but the kick is real if you want it. All in all, OBBA Jjajang at The Starling Mall offers exactly what you’d hope for: bold flavours, comforting classics done well, hearty portions, and friendly service. I’ll be back for another bowl of jjajangmyeon (and definitely the tangsuyuk) soon! Highly recommended if you’re nearby.
